Thought-full Thursday: Rekindling
Every Thursday, I provide you with a thoughtful way to coach yourself – something all leaders need to do. So take five – enjoy the inspirational quotes or and reflect on the questions that follow.
“At times our own light goes out and is rekindled by a spark from another person.
Each of us has cause to think with deep gratitude of those who have lighted the flame within”
~ Albert Schweitzer
- Remember a time that someone in your life sparked your leadership flame. Remember the gratitude you felt. Have you thanked them? What’s stopping you?
- Look around. Where is there potential in your team that is lying fallow?
- What can you do to rekindle the light for that person or persons? Ask them!

Great Question – Sometimes we forget to give a Thank You to the people that lighted out path from the darkness.
Sometimes we forget to acknoledge to the person that we deep down know helped us get out the cycle.
By the way Mary Jo – THANK YOU for lighting up the path.
Hi Juan,
You made my day. Happy rekindling.
Very thought provoking Mary Jo. Legacy of a leader is the difference they make to lives of others. Rekindling the fire within people then should be one of the primary KRA’s of the leaders, because inspired folks deliver great results.
Expressing our gratitude to those who rekindled fire within us is also important, but often forgotten. Your post prompted me to pick up the phone and talk to a few such people who rekindled that fire at some point in my life.
As Juan says – Thank you for lighting up the path.
Tanmay, way to go – to pick up the phone and talk to those who’ve had meaning to you in your life. It’s such a simple act, yet so rare.
