Book Review – "Lead Well and Prosper" by Nick McCormick

Nick McCormick sent me a copy of his book and asked me to review it here. It was a bit of a risk, since I didn’t know if I could say nice things about it, and after all, he was sending a free copy (thus potentially making me “beholden” to say nice things. Luckily, I enjoyed his book.
Since most managers are busy people, I like the idea of something short and simple, and Nick has done this well. Many/most managers don’t have much time to read, so I would think this would appeal to them. Nick writes well, very clear and to the point. The illustrations (by Mark Morgan) are well done. I especially liked the “salient points” at the end of each chapter.
The concepts are quite simple and would seem to appeal to young/new managers. In fact, I don’t know why there couldn’t be a whole “Managing People 101″ course designed around the book.
I couldn’t imagine my clients (senior managers) finding anything in the book new or different, but they may want to consider providing to those who are first time managers in their organizations.
Thanks, Nick, for sending your book my way. I enjoyed it.
